While there are no concentrations or degree specializations, we offer two tracks based upon educational experience. Students accepted into the program without prior coursework in business, finance, or accounting must enter through our Bridge Track in order to gain the foundational and background knowledge necessary for upper-level coursework.
Students who enter with prior coursework in business, finance, or accounting are eligible to have prerequisite courses waived as part of the Core Track.
The Bridge Track consists of 42 credits across seven semesters. The Core Track consists of 30 credit hours taken over five semesters.
At Regis College, our focus on social justice and responsibility defines everything we do. As such, the online MSA is a different kind of Master’s program. In addition to enhancing your knowledge and elevating your skills from a practical and procedural level, we also focus on strategy and ethics, which is important for both not-for-profit and for-profit entities alike as a means to promote greater transparency.
To empower you with a broader business perspective — and help facilitate a smoother transition into managerial and executive roles — our online MSA program provides valuable insight on the specific ways accounting fits into a broader organizational structure and culture.
Our faculty of industry professionals are here to expertly guide you through a challenging, yet rewarding curriculum that is embedded with the values of social entrepreneurship. Many of our professors come from a strong entrepreneurial background, while others have accumulated years of global experience as educators and academics.
Yes. At the end of the program, you will have acquired the skills, knowledge, and 150 required hours to sit for both the CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and CMA (Certified Management Accountant) licensing exams.
The Regis College Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) prepares graduates to sit for the national Certified Management Accountant (CMA) Examination and the Uniform Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Examination. Graduation from the MSA program does not guarantee CMA or CPA certification. The CMA requires at least two years of relevant experience in accounting or finance to qualify for certification. Each state has educational, experiential, and multiple other requirements that must be met for CPA certification. Regis College has not determined if the MSA program meets the educational requirements for CPA certification in any state. It is highly recommended that students seek guidance from the appropriate certification state agencies regarding CMA and/or CPA certification in states where they plan to practice.
The online MSA program allows students with completed coursework to transfer two 2-credit courses for one 3-credit course, or three 2-credit courses for two 3-credit courses. Regis College will also accept CLEP credits (Introductory Accounting for Financial Accounting; Principles of Accounting for Managerial Accounting). Although Regis prefers CLEP over StraighterLine for this program, we remain open to consideration of StraighterLine credits.
The BA in Global Business Management at Regis College’s Sloane School of Business & Communication is accredited through the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). With the first graduating cohort for our Master of Science in Accounting in 2022, we will begin the process for ACBSP accreditation for our MS in Accounting degree.
The ACBSP has a rigorous process to ensure that each member program is eligible and satisfies all accreditation requirements, and it requires all business schools to undergo a full review every 24 months after the initial accreditation.
Regis has chosen to seek accreditation with the ACBSP (Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs) over the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). This is due in large part to the shared values and commitment toward the promotion of continuous improvement and excellence in business education. The BA in Global Business Management at Regis’ Sloane School of Business & Communication is accredited through the ACBSP. With the first graduating cohort for our MSA in 2022, we will begin the process for ACBSP accreditation.
ACBSP is an excellent indicator of the overall quality of each member program; businesses want their workers to gain critical business management knowledge and, to that end, ACBSP is more focused on the overall quality and real-world application of the program as opposed to the original research and theoretical knowledge that a program can produce. For Regis, the implementation of sound business philosophy that is applicable to the ever-changing needs of a global economy far outweighs the strictly academic insight that remains perpetually confined to the microcosm of higher learning institutions.
Additionally, ACBSP has accredited more than 3,000 programs at 430 campuses across the globe, including Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD programs in various business-related disciplines.
There are two entry points for the online MSA program: A Core Track and a Bridge Track. The Bridge Track can be completed in as few as 28 months (seven semesters), whereas the Core Track can be completed within 16 months (five semesters).
Regis College’s online MSA program tuition is $750 per credit hour for the Core Track and $375 per credit hour for prerequisite (Bridge) coursework.
