Lauren Bierman DNP, APRN,
AGNP Program Director
Dr. Lauren Bierman is an adult-geriatric nurse practitioner (AGNP) with a clinical focus in memory care and hospice. She brings many years of personal experience in online learning to her role as the director of the AGNP online program at Regis College, as well as a background teaching undergraduate and graduate-level nurses. In addition to being a professor, she continues to practice as a hospice nurse practitioner in her community.
As a nurse, Dr. Bierman worked in OB/GYN, med/surg, hospice, long-term care, and administration. She was previously the director of nursing for a residential and memory care facility, where she implemented a variety of comfort care practices, including a sensory-focused spa for residents with dementia. She volunteers for the Alzheimer’s Association as a community educator and consults with home health care agencies on staff training in memory care.
Dr. Bierman received her Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from Castleton University, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Sacred Heart University, and her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Maryville University. For her DNP Scholarly Project, she conducted research in a long-term care facility to determine whether vitamin D supplementation would reduce the behavioral symptoms often seen in dementia. She also has experience working as a nurse practitioner in primary care and is now pursuing a specialty degree in psychiatry.
Her professional memberships include the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the Vermont Nurse Practitioner Association, and Sigma Theta Tau.
