Dr. Martin began his nursing career in the hospice and palliative care setting, before transitioning to HIV/AIDS care. He has taught as both face-to-face and online adjunct faculty for multiple colleges since 2008. Dr. Martin joined Regis College in 2017 as associate professor and director, Clinical Doctorate of Nursing Practice Program Online (2017-2020). He works several days each month with Vivent Healthcare in Austin, TX, in the role of RN Medical Case Manager, supporting HIV-infected individuals in HIV primary care.

Dr. Martin maintains specialty certifications as a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE), AIDS Certified Registered Nurse (ACRN), and Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (CHPN). He also serves on the HIV/AIDS National Certification Board (HANCB). Dr. Martin is a peer reviewer for the Journal of Doctoral Nursing Practice, the Journal of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care and the Journal of Hospice and Palliative Nursing.
